Hymek on Dainton The Hymeks were undoubtedly the most successful diesil hydraulics of the Western Region. Built at Swindon in the early 1960's to replace the Great Western Railways steam locomotives, they could deal with passenger and freight traffic with ease. Sometimes labelled as "quirkey" they were to last just fifteen years in service.
